Learning Objectives
Students will be able to identify whether ethical decisions demonstrate a deontological, consequential, or virtue-based framework.
When given a framework (deontological, consequential, or virtue-based), students will be able to choose a course of action that accurately represents that framework.
About Paper Trail
In Paper Trail, students work in the accountability department of a large corporation that manufactures protective gear and industrial safety equipment and sells it to energy companies. It is the students’ job to investigate potential ethical issues within the company.
Customer complaints have recently led students investigate a local sales branch, where they quickly find themselves traveling down a rabbit hole of ethical and criminal violations within the company. Investigating these violations will lead the investigation all the way up through the company to the VP and CEO, forcing them to make ethical decisions along the way, each of which will impact the game’s conclusion.
